History
Thomas Grothey enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1985 and traveled the Middle East and Europe on an Amphibious Assault Vehicle.
In May of 1993 he attended the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. Shortly after graduating from the Academy, he transitioned to the Troop J - Lancaster Patrol Unit.
In October of 1996 he transferred to the Troop H - York Patrol Unit.
In January of 2000 he became a Criminal Investigator in York’s Criminal Investigation Unit. He continued to be a Criminal Investigator for 15 additional years. During his stay, he became Lead Investigator in approximately 2,500 criminal cases, as well as investigated and assisted in 25 Criminal Homicide investigations.
Throughout his tenure with the Pennsylvania State Police, Thomas received specialized training in almost every facet of police work.
